In Vetrograph: Jarrahdale, Anne Clifton explores the intersection of intuitive drawing, color, and the physical interactions of glass. Against a saturated tangerine ground, flameworked glass elements form an abstract composition of intersecting lines, layered shapes, and fluid passages of color.
The etched surface introduces a contrasting matte texture, while the interplay of opaque and translucent glass creates shifting relationships between foreground and depth. Drawing upon her background in ceramics, Clifton treats the vessel as a sculptural surface upon which gesture, material, and color converge.
