Moon Mask

Moon Mask brings Preston Singletary’s Tlingit visual language into an intimate cast-glass form. The face emerges from a circular field with the clarity and symmetry of Northwest Coast formline, while the moon motif gives the work a quiet sense of presence and watchfulness.

Singletary’s use of translucent glass allows light to become part of the image, softening the surface while sharpening the relief. Compact in scale, the work carries the authority of an ancestral form translated into a contemporary material.
