Mixteco

Mixteco draws on the visual language and cultural legacy of the Mixtec people of Oaxaca, translating ancestral imagery into sculptural glass. A serene modeled face supports an elaborately ornamented vessel form, with iridescent banding and cascading spiral elements in gold and bronze.

Aguilera brings this Mesoamerican reference into dialogue with his training in Venetian glass techniques, creating a work in which ornament, history, and material virtuosity become inseparable.
