In Kepler 10c, Peter Bowles explores the relationship between glass chemistry, light, and sculptural form. Developed through his research into historical phosphate opal glass formulations, the work reveals carefully controlled transitions between translucency and opacity.
Concentric rings appear to recede into the vessel's luminous blue interior, creating an optical sense of depth within its restrained geometry. The interplay of polished surfaces and softly diffused light reflects Bowles's sophisticated command of glass composition and coldworking.
Part of his Quiescent Objects series, the sculpture embodies the remarkable complexity of its making and the quiet precision of its finished form.
