Fluid Topographies: Object 31

Fluid Topographies: Object 31 is part of George William Bell’s ongoing investigation of glass as a responsive sculptural medium. Custom metal tools are used to shape the molten material from within through repeated applications of heat and pressure, producing a direct relationship between process and form. Sand carving and silver mirroring further articulate the surface, heightening the work’s shifting topography, reflectivity, and sense of depth.
