Amorphous Form in Gold belongs to George William Bell’s investigation of collaborative, process-led form. In his Amorphous Form works, multiple glassblowers work simultaneously on a shared glass form. Its final configuration emerges through their coordinated handling of the molten material rather than following a fully predetermined design.
The series extends Bell’s inquiry into the transition from molten glass to solid object. Heat, gravity, and the actions of the glassblowers become formative forces, placing technical control in dialogue with material contingency. The resulting sculpture records an encounter between makers and material, questioning the boundaries of individual authorship and repeatable form.
